Yash joined Merge in 2021. He received his Bachelor of Architecture with first-class distinction at S.C.E.T in Surat, India and a Master of Architecture II from SCI-Arc.
Yash is interested in determining what the scope of architecture might be. His Master thesis, ‘Perceptive Places’, examined architectural fictions in relation to surreal errors on the historical cartographical drawings of phantom islands. His corollary interest in surreal aesthetics and new modes of representation developed out of a pedagogical pursuit while serving as instructor and critic at SCI-Arc. Beyond architecture, he enjoys the speculative worlds of Pokemon and League of Legends.
Prior to joining Merge, Yash worked as a designer at HDA-x in Los Angeles. Before moving to the U.S., Yash worked as a licensed architect in two leading architectural practices in India – Aangan Architects in Surat and Abraham John Architects in Mumbai – where he was involved in a variety of projects ranging from the urban to domestic scale.
