Merge’s MiniLuxe and Vicki Lee’s Bakery and Cafe have been published in the January 2006 awards issue of Architecture Boston Magazine 2008: The Year in Review. MiniLuxe in Boston, Massachusetts houses expected salon services of manicures and pedicures by day but moonlights as a private party venue and lounge at night, illuminated by backlit plywood panels cut with oversized hands and feet. Vicki Lee’s Bakery and Cafe in Belmont, Massachusetts creates a layered, yet unified, dining experience through a singular form of OSB that is overlaid by a clear coat, paint, and polycarbonate to subtly define spaces.
