Diana Tomova joined MERGE Architects in 2015. She is a registered architect in Massachusetts and holds a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Michigan. In addition to her strengths in design, Diana brings experience in the areas of computationally-driven design, production automation, and complex material fabrication techniques. During her time at Michigan, Diana was selected as an A. Alfred Taubman Scholar, Bill Scott Memorial Fund Scholar, and a University of Michigan Alumni Foundation Scholar. Diana has participated in numerous exhibitions, publications, and public presentations of her work, including an invited paper and lecture at ACADIA2011 on her work entitled “Robotic Rod-bending: Digital Drawing / Physical Space” and a peer-reviewed exhibition of her work “wavePavilion” at FABRICATE2011, the Bartlett School of Architecture, London. While at Michigan, Diana was a Graduate Student Instructor for Computer-Aided Design Fundamentals, and participated as an Algorithmic Design Consultant at the Robotic Construction Intensive Workshop at Princeton University in the Fall of 2010.
Previously, Diana worked for Kennedy & Violich Architecture Ltd. where she held the position of Senior Designer. Her project experience ranges in scope from product-design to large institutional buildings and master-planning. She has performed as design-lead on multiple projects as well as successful competitions and proposals. She regularly consults on issues regarding complex geometry and methods for full-scale fabrication and material prototyping.
